Mayor Darío Moreno and the Spanish government's deputy representative in Valencia, José Rodríguez, met today with the Local Police, Civil Guard and National Police to coordinate the security operation for Sagunto's patron saint festivities.

The meeting, held this morning in Sagunto, brought together the three state security forces involved -Local Police, Civil Guard and National Police- along with the municipal departments in charge of keeping the festivities incident-free. Besides the mayor and the deputy government representative, the meeting included the city councillor for Local Police, María José Carrera; the councillor for Festivities and Popular Culture, Patricia Sánchez; and senior security officers.

Sagunto's patron saint festivities honour the Holy Martyrs Abdón and Senén, popularly known as the 'Sants de la Pedra' (Saints of the Stone), and are traditionally held in the second half of July. They are separate from other religious dates on the local calendar, such as Mare de Déu del Carme and Mare de Déu de Begonya in Puerto de Sagunto (coastal district), or Sant Ramon Nonat in late August. The coordinated operation aims to ensure that the planned processions, open-air dances and street activities run smoothly and safely for residents and visitors.
