The municipal people's university closes its academic year from 18 to 23 May with exhibitions, workshops and free activities across Sagunto and Puerto de Sagunto.

For six days, all residents can take a look at what has been learned in the adult-education classroom run by the council. The programme brings together two exhibitions by porcelain-decoration students: a photo show that opens on Monday and runs until the end of the month at the EPA Miguel Hernández, and a series of hand-painted birds at Casa Capellà Pallarés. Alongside those pieces there are open days at the Racó de l'Horta and at the Casa de Cultura in the port, where work from ceramics, drawing, sewing and furniture restoration is shown together with demonstration workshops. The councillor for Education, Raúl Palmero, leads the opening of several of these events, which also honour long-standing participants. The civic side is not missing: music, a manifesto read by the yoga group and the collective piece Parem la guerra carry a message of peace to the audience. Behind the week lies the town's commitment to keeping on learning at any age. This format has its roots in the people's universities, a form of non-formal adult education whose first Spanish branch was born in Oviedo in 1896 (Wikipedia). According to aytosagunto.es.
