Sagunto's city council plenary voted in its May session to urge the Valencian Government's Justice Ministry to immediately put the new Palacio de Justicia (courthouse) out to tender and to publish a binding construction timetable. The motion, brought by the ruling PSPV-PSOE and passed by a wide majority, notes that the 10,761 m² building would serve over 90,000 people across 16 municipalities in the Camp de Morvedre district. The council granted the building permit in November 2024, but the project has still not been tendered. The 2025 regional budget includes €37.2 million allocated across four annual instalments for the courthouse. In the meantime, temporary premises have cost the regional administration €670,000. According to aytosagunto.es, councillors argued the delay reflects a lack of political will rather than a lack of funds.
