Firefighters from Sagunto's fire station rescued a driver late on Friday night after his car went off the N-234 road and fell into an irrigation canal in Albalat dels Tarongers, a neighbouring town in the Camp de Morvedre district.

Valencia's 112 emergency service and Spain's national weather agency AEMET issued an orange heat alert for the northern coast of Valencia province on Tuesday, 8 September, with temperatures up to 39°C forecast for Sagunto between noon and 8pm.
