Sagunto works with the Valencian Pilota Federation to join the Pla de Trinquets
Mayor Darío Moreno and Sports Councillor Javier Timón, with municipal technical staff, meet the Federació de Pilota Valenciana to join the Provincial Council's Pla de Trinquets.
Sagunto City Council is working with the Federació de Pilota Valenciana (Valencian handball federation) to join the Pla de Trinquets of the Provincial Council of Valencia. Sagunto's mayor, Darío Moreno, and the Councillor for Physical Activity, Health and Sports, Javier Timón, together with technical staff from the department, held a meeting with the federation to move forward with the city's entry into the provincial plan. The aim is to promote pilota valenciana (a traditional Valencian ball game) in the municipality by supporting the specialised courts where it is played. Pilota valenciana is the native ball sport of the Valencian region; by the 16th century there were already 13 trinquets (dedicated courts) in the city of Valencia, and the game has at least 10 variants, of which escala i corda and raspall still have professional players (Wikipedia).
